Is GTA 6 coming to PS5?

Yes. PlayStation 5 is a launch platform on Thursday, 19 November 2026, with no exclusivity, no timed window and no separate PlayStation date.

Confirmed. Source: Take-Two Interactive press release, 24 Jun 2026. Checked .

Our own very high aerial illustration of flat wetland running out to a distant coastline at midday, almost map-like, the water channels catching the light.

The machine and the date are settled. Almost everything a PlayStation owner asks next — how it runs, whether the Pro does anything different, how much space to clear, what time it unlocks — is not, and this page is careful about which is which.

What has been settled

The announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .

There is no PlayStation exclusivity, no timed window and no separate PlayStation date. The same list has named the same two machines since it was first published.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on Thursday, 19 November 2026. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .

Pre-orders are available through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store and retailers worldwide. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .

Pre-loading begins on 12 November 2026, one week before launch. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .

Rockstar's PlayStation.Blog post names DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, the controller speaker, Tempest 3D AudioTech and SSD load times as PS5 features the game uses. Confirmed. PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored), .

Read that last one for what it is: a list of platform capabilities the game makes use of. It is not a performance specification, it promises no particular quality of implementation, and it contains no number. It is nonetheless the only first-party technical detail published so far about any version on any machine, which tells you how thin the technical record currently is.

Is there a PS5 Pro version?

Rockstar has not said whether Grand Theft Auto VI has any PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements, or what they would be. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a Rockstar or Sony statement naming a Pro enhancement, in either direction. PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored).

This is the part of the page most likely to disagree with what you have read elsewhere, so it is worth being exact. There is no first-party statement about PS5 Pro at all — no enhancement, no mode, no figure, and no comparison with the base console. The one technical post Rockstar has published is about the base machine's controller, audio and drive, and it does not mention the Pro.

A "PS5 Pro Enhanced" designation is widely repeated all the same. It has not been confirmed and it has not been denied; nobody at Rockstar or Sony has said either. If you have seen the label, the question worth asking is who published it and when.

How many frames a second?

Rockstar has not stated a target frame rate, a resolution, or what performance and quality modes exist on any console. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a stated target, or measured footage from a sustained gameplay showing. Notebookcheck.

No target frame rate, no resolution, and no list of graphics modes on any PlayStation hardware, Pro included. So the base PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Pro are in exactly the same position on the published record: two machines running a game whose performance nobody has described. Anything comparing them is comparing two unpublished numbers.

Retailer listings and leaks pointing to a 60fps performance mode are unverified, and technical analysts are sceptical. Rumoured. Notebookcheck (citing Digital Foundry analysis), .

The full argument, including where the 60fps claim came from and why the analysts who doubt it are also not first-party, is on frame rate and resolution.

"Captured in-game on PlayStation 5"

Rockstar states Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. Confirmed. GTABase (quoting Rockstar's trailer notes), .

That line is the one most often read as a performance statement, and it is not one. It means the images came out of the engine rather than a render farm. It does not mean the sequence ran at a playable frame rate, in real time, or under player control — Rockstar's own framing separates in-game from gameplay.

That distinction is why no performance number can be read out of the trailer. Footage tells you what the engine can produce for a cut; it tells you nothing about what it holds while somebody is driving through it, and the frame rate of the capture itself has never been stated.

How much space to clear, and what time it unlocks

The download and install size have never been published. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a figure on the PlayStation Store listing, or the pre-load itself. Absence of any first-party statement.

Every PlayStation 5 buyer downloads the whole game, including anyone who buys the boxed edition, because the box contains a code rather than a disc. How much space to clear is therefore a real question with no answer. The practical read: clear the space and start the download the day pre-loading opens on , because that is the week the download has to happen in. The same blank across both consoles is on the file size page.

Rockstar has not announced what time the game unlocks on 19 November 2026. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a time on the storefront listing, or a Newswire post. Absence of any first-party statement.

The listing gives a date and not a time. Storefront metadata in several regions points to a local-midnight unlock, but metadata is a field on a product page rather than an announcement, and Rockstar has made none. Unlock time and pre-load tracks it.

PS4 owners and the upgrade question

There is no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .

With no last-generation version there is no cross-generation bundle, no upgrade path and no entitlement carried forward — none of those has been announced because none of them has anything to attach to. Playing on launch day means a PlayStation 5. The full platform cut-off, and what it does and does not imply, is on the PS4 and Xbox One page.

What the PlayStation Store listing says

Rockstar's own pre-order materials, the PlayStation Store listing and the PlayStation.Blog post all describe Grand Theft Auto VI as a "single-player experience". Confirmed. PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored), .

It is a description of what the product is, not a denial that anything else will ever exist. What it is not is an announcement of a multiplayer mode, and it is the reason there is no announced online mode and no announced crossplay to write about here.

Pre-ordering terms are on the pre-orders page, and the other announced machine is on the Xbox page.
