Is there a GTA 6 map?

No. No map of Leonida has ever been published in any first-party material. The state, its principal city and seven places inside it have names — not one of them has a stated position.

Not known. Open since 4 Dec 2023; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: Rockstar publishing one, or a storefront listing carrying it. Source: Absence of any first-party statement. Checked .

Our own night-time illustration of a neon strip after rain, unreadable glowing signage mirrored in wet asphalt, palms in silhouette and unmarked cars at the kerb.

A list of names is not a geography. Rockstar has named places and described each of them in a phrase; it has never said where any of them is, how far apart any two of them are, or which of them touch. Everything presented as the GTA 6 map is either somebody's drawing or somebody's stolen file.

Two trailers, around seventy screenshots and a set of location pages have produced a great many pictures of places and not one document showing how the places fit together. No atlas, no in-game map export, no scale figure.

What has actually been stated

The game is set in the fictional US state of Leonida. Confirmed. PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored), .

Vice City returns as the game's principal city. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Trailer 1, .

Those two sentences are the frame the whole subject sits in: an invented state, and one city inside it that the series has been to before. Everything else first-party is a name with a phrase attached.

Leonida is understood to be modelled on Florida, but Rockstar has never said so. Rumoured. Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI), .

That last one is the most repeated claim about this map and it has never been said by anybody at Rockstar. It is graded as an inference here for that reason and no other; it may well be right. Which real places each named location is taken to correspond to is set out at real-world counterparts.

Named, named in passing, and never said

Six places in Leonida have names beyond Vice City. Five of them — Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park — came off the location pages Rockstar published alongside the second trailer on 6 May 2025, and each carries a phrase describing what kind of place it is. Vice City itself was named in the first trailer, eighteen months earlier.

The seventh is the one almost every other list of Leonida locations leaves out, because it did not arrive in the location material at all.

Rockstar's character bio has Lucia serving time at Leonida Penitentiary after an incident defending her family. Confirmed. Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI), summarising Rockstar's official bios, .

Leonida Penitentiary is first-party, and a name is a name wherever it is printed. Where the prison sits is as unstated as everything else. The full register, place by place with the material and the date for each, is on the state of Leonida.

Against those seven names, here is what has never been stated by anybody: the coastline, the area, which regions touch, and how long it takes to cross the state. The names do at least say what kinds of terrain the state contains, and they are not all city — an archipelago, a wetland, a national park and a stretch of coast Rockstar itself calls forgotten. On the names alone, the state is not only urban. How much of it is not urban has never been said.

How do the named places relate to each other?

Rockstar has never said where any named place in Leonida sits, how far apart any two of them are, or which of them share a border. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: A one-line description of each place, and no position for any of them. Would settle it: first-party material putting two named places in one frame with a distance between them, or a map carrying the names. Absence of any first-party statement.

This is the question a map exists to answer, and it is the one a list of names cannot. An archipelago, a wetland, a forgotten coast, a heart and a national park describe a range of terrain; they do not describe an arrangement. Anybody telling you how long it takes to drive from Vice City to the Keys is describing a map they have drawn.

How big is the state?

The size of the map has never been stated. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: None. Community mapping projects have produced estimates; an estimate is not a statement. Would settle it: a figure in square miles or square kilometres, given by Rockstar or printed on a storefront listing. Absence of any first-party statement.

Take-Two's investor material has had every commercial reason to boast about scale, and has talked instead about dates, editions and pre-orders. A number missing from all of the material that would carry it, in a campaign this long, is not an oversight waiting to be filled in from outside. How big is the map sets out where the circulating figures come from and why none of them can be checked.

Two things get called the GTA 6 map

The first is a reconstruction: a drawing assembled from trailer frames and screenshots, with coastlines interpolated between them. The good ones are careful work and the best of them will turn out to be roughly right. None of them is evidence, because the thing being measured is not visible — you cannot recover the distance between two coastlines from footage that never shows both at once, which is also why the size estimates built on them are unusable.

The amount of footage involved is smaller than the confidence around it suggests.

Rockstar published around 70 screenshots and new character and location pages alongside Trailer 2. Confirmed. GTABase, .

As of 21 August 2026 there have been two official trailers, with a third showing scheduled. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .

The second thing called a map is material taken from a build, and it carries a different problem entirely: nobody outside Rockstar can establish that it is genuine, that it is current, or that a map inside a stolen build resembles the map that ships.

On 18 August 2026 a group calling itself CyberLeek posted material it claimed came from Grand Theft Auto VI, including footage and an image said to be the Leonida map. Rumoured. GameSpot, .

Take-Two has pursued DMCA takedowns and court filings seeking account records over the August 2026 leak. Confirmed. GameSpot, .

Rockstar has issued no public statement about the August 2026 leak. Confirmed. Den of Geek, .

A takedown is evidence that a rights holder objects to something being circulated. It is not evidence that the something is a map of Leonida. Where the August 2026 claims stand is tracked on the leaks page.

One more figure travels further than any other claim about this map, and it belongs in the same category as the drawings.

The widely repeated figure of "700+ enterable buildings" has no first-party source. Rumoured. Circulated by fan and aggregator sites, .

What would change any of this

The next scheduled first-party material is An Extended Look on 27 August 2026, whose contents have not been announced. Until then the position at the top holds: the state has a name, the city has a name, seven places have names, and nobody outside Rockstar has seen how they fit together.
