How much does GTA 6 cost?
$79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, in the United States, announced on 24 June 2026. No price in any other currency has been announced at all.
Confirmed. Source: Take-Two Interactive press release, 24 Jun 2026. Checked .
Both figures came out of one document, on : the announcement that opened pre-orders. It set the prices, named the editions, and has not been revised since.
Two things about those prices are widely reported wrongly, and both cost money: the headline bonus is not pre-order exclusive, and the box on the shelf contains a code rather than a disc.
The two announced prices
The Standard Edition is $79.99 in the United States. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 in the United States. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
Only two editions have been announced: Standard and Ultimate. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
The $20 between them buys a bonus package rather than a different game, and Rockstar's own description of that package is the only description of it there is.
Rockstar describes the Ultimate Edition as adding "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story". Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
Rockstar's Ultimate Edition listing itemises exclusive vehicles, engraved weapons, outfits, tattoos and a set of exclusive in-game shops. Confirmed. Kotaku (reporting Rockstar's edition page), .
There is no official item count, so any page telling you the Ultimate Edition contains exactly so many items is counting a list somebody else transcribed from a storefront. What each edition contains, item by item, is on Standard and Ultimate.
What comes with either price
Two inducements attach to the purchase rather than to the tier, and both are routinely described as Ultimate Edition perks. Neither is.
Every purchase made before 20 November 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
Digital pre-orders include a redeemable free month of GTA+. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
Pre-loading begins on 12 November 2026, one week before launch. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
So the bonus pack goes to somebody who buys at $79.99 on launch day exactly as it goes to somebody who pre-ordered at $99.99 in June, and the free month of GTA+ follows the word "digital" rather than the word "premium". How and where to buy is on pre-orders.
What does it cost where I live?
No price for Grand Theft Auto VI in any currency other than US dollars has been announced. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a published price list, or a storefront price stated by Rockstar rather than shown by a store. Absence of any first-party statement.
Both announced figures are stated for the United States, in dollars. Any local price you have seen comes from a storefront listing rather than from an announcement.
So a local figure is worth exactly what the storefront showing it is worth, and it is not the dollar price run through a currency converter. If you want the number that applies to you, the store you would buy from is the only authority on it.
Is anything else going to be sold?
No expansions, story DLC, season pass or post-launch content plan has been announced. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: any first-party mention of an expansion, a pass or a roadmap. Absence of any first-party statement.
Nothing has been said about in-game purchases or monetisation in the single-player game. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a storefront listing, or one line describing the game's economy. Absence of any first-party statement.
No online or multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced. Confirmed. GamesRadar+, .
No expansion, story DLC, season pass or post-launch plan has been announced at any price, and no online mode has been announced either — so there is no announced product to price. Every figure in circulation for one of those is somebody pricing a thing that does not exist yet.
No PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
The same applies to a PC edition. Prices quoted for it are quoted for an unannounced product, which is set out on the PC page.
Why $79.99 was worth defending
Almost every account of this price opens by comparing it to what a new console game used to cost. That comparison needs a baseline figure nobody in this story has actually stated, and the point does not need one — because what is on record is more direct than any comparison: the chairman of the company that set the price used an earnings call to argue it was fair.
Zelnick defended the $80 price, saying the game "will be an incredible bargain as experiences go". Confirmed. Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings call transcript (The Motley Fool), .
Companies defend numbers that are being argued about. That is an inference rather than something Take-Two said; the quotation under it is the part that is on the record, with the transcript it came from attached.
Zelnick called GTA VI pre-orders "unprecedented and astonishing", at levels "no one's ever seen before at Take-Two or in the industry". Confirmed. Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings call transcript (The Motley Fool), .
Take-Two has said two things about the price worth having side by side: that it is a bargain, and that pre-orders at it are unlike anything the company has seen. The second is stronger than it first looks — and weaker, because the chairman immediately qualified it himself, and because Take-Two has published no pre-order number of any kind.
The figures that get misreported
Take-Two has not published a pre-order unit count or dollar figure. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: Two adjectives from Take-Two — unprecedented, astonishing — and no figure. Would settle it: a unit or dollar number in a Take-Two results release or filing. Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings call transcript (The Motley Fool).
The 89% figure is a useful illustration of the difference between a measurement and a disclosure. It is an analyst's estimate over a set of markets, its own author expects it to fall, and it is quoted everywhere as though Rockstar had published it. Take-Two's own language — unprecedented, astonishing — is real and first-party, and it is not a number.
Three things get attached to the price that are not established. All three concern what the money actually buys in a box, and all three are still circulating.
The physical boxed edition contains a download code, not a disc. Confirmed. Push Square, .
Claims that the boxed edition includes a playable disc are wrong. Debunked. Push Square, .
A report that a true disc-based edition will ship in December 2026 is unverified and has not been announced. Rumoured. GameLuster (relaying PPE.pl / leaker "Graczdari"), .
The boxed edition is the row that surprises people who pre-ordered one; it is set out in full on the boxed edition, and what a pre-order adds on top is on pre-orders. Where GTA VI stands against its predecessor on everything else is on compared with GTA 5.
