Is GTA 6 coming to Xbox Series X and S?
Yes — Xbox Series X and Series S, on the same day as PlayStation. Nothing has been published about either Xbox machine on its own.
Confirmed. Source: Take-Two Interactive press release, 24 Jun 2026. Checked .
The Xbox audience arrives with three questions: is it coming, is the Series S version cut down, and is it on Game Pass. Only the first has an answer.
What has been settled
The announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
Every first-party platform line reads Xbox Series X|S — one entry covering both machines. It arrives on the same day it arrives on PlayStation 5, at the same two prices, through the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store and retail.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on Thursday, 19 November 2026. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .
Pre-orders are available through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store and retailers worldwide. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
The Standard Edition is $79.99 in the United States. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 in the United States. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
That is a Thursday, and the pricing announcement draws no distinction between the two platforms. Both editions are set out on the price page.
Is the Series S version cut down?
Nothing has been said about how Grand Theft Auto VI runs on Xbox Series S, or whether it differs from Series X. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a per-console technical breakdown, or specifications on the Microsoft Store listing. Take-Two Interactive press release.
The Series S is the smaller and less powerful of the two machines, and how large open-world games treat it is a live argument. Rockstar has not entered that argument. It has not said the Series S version matches the Series X, it has not said it is scaled down, and it has published no figure that would let anybody check.
No Rockstar or Take-Two material separates the two machines, compares them, or acknowledges that they are different pieces of hardware. That is not a hint that the two versions are identical. It is the absence of a statement either way — and it is total rather than partial, because nobody outside Rockstar has played this game on any console.
Rockstar has not stated a target frame rate, a resolution, or what performance and quality modes exist on any console. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a per-console technical breakdown, or press hands-on time. Notebookcheck.
There is no frame rate or resolution stated for either Xbox machine, or for any other. The argument in circulation is about PlayStation hardware and is a reading of two trailers rather than a measurement — frame rate and resolution takes it apart.
Is it on Game Pass?
Nothing has been announced about Grand Theft Auto VI appearing on Xbox Game Pass, at launch or later. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a Microsoft or Rockstar statement naming the service. Take-Two Interactive press release.
Nothing has been said. The announcement that opened pre-orders names storefronts and retailers, and no subscription service of any kind. There is no Microsoft or Rockstar statement about Game Pass and this game to record.
Every announced route to the game on Xbox is a purchase. Absence is not denial: a Game Pass release has not been ruled out any more than it has been promised. But anyone telling you the game is coming to the service is guessing.
One feature list, and it is not this one
Rockstar's PlayStation.Blog post names DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, the controller speaker, Tempest 3D AudioTech and SSD load times as PS5 features the game uses. Confirmed. PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored), .
Rockstar wrote a technical post about what the game does with PlayStation 5 hardware — the controller, the audio, the SSD — and published nothing equivalent for Xbox. Read it as a marketing arrangement rather than a verdict: it tells you where a promotional post was placed, and nothing whatever about how the game runs on either Xbox machine. It is still worth noticing, because it is the reason this page has less on it than its PlayStation counterpart.
As of 21 August 2026 there have been two official trailers, with a third showing scheduled. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .
Nobody outside Rockstar has played it, on any platform, and no press hands-on time has been given. For the parity question to be answered, one of three things has to happen: Rockstar publishes a per-console technical breakdown, the Microsoft Store listing gains real specifications before pre-load, or press outlets are given hands-on time on Xbox hardware. None of the three has been scheduled. The Extended Look is the next occasion on which anything could change, and Rockstar has not said what it contains.
Storage, and the missing size figure
The download and install size have never been published. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a figure on the Microsoft Store listing, or the pre-load itself. Absence of any first-party statement.
No install size has been published, which matters most to Series S owners, who have the least internal storage to clear. Neither storefront listing carries a figure, and the numbers being passed around are commentators' estimates rather than specifications.
Pre-loading begins on 12 November 2026, one week before launch. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
So the first dependable size figure for Xbox will almost certainly be the one the Microsoft Store shows when pre-load opens on , a week before launch. Until then, clearing space is guesswork. The same question across both consoles is on the file size page.
Rockstar has not announced what time the game unlocks on 19 November 2026. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a time on the storefront listing, or a Newswire post. Absence of any first-party statement.
The listing gives a date and not a time, on this platform as on the other. Unlock time and pre-load tracks it.
Nothing is known about crossplay or cross-progression. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: an announced online mode, then a statement that its sessions are shared. Absence of any first-party statement.
And nothing connects the two consoles, because there is no announced mode for them to share.
Xbox One owners, and the one Xbox-specific figure
There is no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive press release, .
Every first-party platform list names current-generation consoles only. An Xbox One is not a way into this game, and no upgrade path, streaming route or backward step has been announced for one. The position on both last-generation machines is set out on the PS4 and Xbox One page, and the announced platform list in full is on the platforms page.
That is the one figure in circulation with anything Xbox-specific in it, and it is worth knowing exactly what it is: an analyst estimate of how pre-orders split between the two editions, which ran higher on Xbox than on PlayStation. It is an outside measurement of storefront behaviour, not a Rockstar disclosure, and it is graded accordingly.
The other announced machine is on the PlayStation 5 page.
