Will GTA 6 be delayed again?

No third delay has been announced. Take-Two has gone on stating 19 November 2026 in results, in guidance and in a filing with the SEC, most recently on 7 August 2026 — and whether the date holds is not knowable in advance.

Our own rendered artwork of a wide seafront boulevard at midday: palms down one side, pastel art-deco hotel frontage behind them, unmarked cars moving on the road and a skyline far off under towering cloud.

No probability can honestly be attached to it. What can be set out is the record: who restated the date, in what kind of document, and on what day. A blog post can be edited; a quarterly filing and a full year of revenue guidance cannot, and that difference is the whole of what separates evidence here from a prediction.

Does the date hold?

Whether Grand Theft Auto VI holds its announced date cannot be established in advance, and no third delay has been announced. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: Seven, all first-party or investor-facing, most recently 7 August 2026. Would settle it: the game on sale on the announced day — or a Newswire post moving it. Absence of any statement moving the date.

Two dates have already been withdrawn. A 2025 window announced in December 2023 went in May 2025; the 26 May 2026 date that replaced it went in November 2025, having stood for a little over six months. Both were confirmed at the time, by the same publisher, in the same channel as the one that stands now.

The current date has stood longer than either of them and has been restated with revenue guidance attached, which is the strongest signal available. It remains a statement of intent. The only thing that confirms a release date is a release.

Seven separate occasions across nine months, four of them in investor material. The sequence is the argument.

Take-Two guides fiscal 2027 net bookings to $8.0–8.2 billion, roughly 20% growth, driven by the GTA VI launch. Confirmed. Take-Two Interactive investor relations, .

Pre-orders have been open since June, taking real money against a date the company then reaffirmed again in August, and by its own account taking rather a lot of it.

Zelnick called GTA VI pre-orders "unprecedented and astonishing", at levels "no one's ever seen before at Take-Two or in the industry". Confirmed. Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings call transcript (The Motley Fool), .

Not one of those makes the date certain. Together they make moving it expensive, and that is a different and more useful thing to be able to say.

How the previous two delays were announced

Both times the pattern was identical: a notice from Rockstar itself, no advance warning, and a stated reason that named no production problem. Both times the share price fell on the announcement.

The first trailer ended with a "Coming 2025" card. That was the game's public release window at the time; it was later moved and is no longer current. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Trailer 1, .

The 26 May 2026 date, announced in May 2025, was itself moved and is no longer current. The announced date is 19 November 2026. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .

The detail of each is set out at every delay, in order. What matters here is the shape — an announcement, not a leak; a company statement, not a rumour that turned out to be right.

In hindsight there is one signal, and it is not much. A week before the second delay, Rockstar dismissed 34 staff, and the two events are close enough together that a causal story wrote itself immediately.

Rockstar dismissed 34 employees on 30–31 October 2025 across studios in Edinburgh, Dundee, Lincoln and Toronto. Confirmed. PC Gamer, .

The claim that the second delay was caused by the October 2025 dismissals is inference from timing. Rumoured. Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI), .

Before the first delay there was no comparable event at all. Anyone claiming to have called either slip in advance was reading the same absence of information as everyone else and happened to guess correctly, which is not a method that can be applied to the next one.

A scheduled showing, an open pre-order and a published pre-load date are all things a company does when it intends to ship. They are useful signals and they are not guarantees, and the reason to be careful about that is on the record: the 26 May 2026 date was announced by Rockstar itself, stood for six months, and moved anyway.

The 2027 claim, and what it was built on

A percentage is the most liftable thing anybody can attach to this question, and every one in circulation was made up: nobody outside Rockstar holds the information a real one would need. The claim that the game moves to 2027 circulated widely on precisely that basis.

Claims in mid-2026 that the game would slip again into 2027 have no first-party backing. Debunked. Dexerto, .

Note what that grade rests on. It is not that a 2027 release is impossible — nobody can rule that out. It is that the claim was presented as knowledge, sourced to unnamed insiders, and contradicted by first-party statements made after it.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on Thursday, 19 November 2026. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .

Until a third delay is announced the date stands, and if one is announced it will arrive the way the first two did: from Rockstar, without warning, alongside a reason that names no production problem. It would join the delay history rather than replace what is there. The count of days left is on the countdown.
