How long is GTA 6?

Not known. Rockstar has never stated a campaign length or a mission count, and nobody outside the studio has played a minute of the game. Not one hour figure in circulation can be attributed to anybody who would know.

Not known. Open since 24 Jun 2026; statements to cite: none. Would settle it: a Rockstar statement of campaign length, or the first measured playthroughs after 19 November 2026. Source: Absence of any first-party statement. Checked .

An illustration we made of a regional airfield apron in hard daylight: parked light aircraft carrying no markings, a squat control tower and heat shimmer over the concrete.

Hour figures for this game circulate widely and are specific enough to look researched. Not one of them can be traced to Rockstar, to a Take-Two filing, or to anybody who has played the game, which is why none of them appears here.

What is actually known

Nothing has been said about campaign length, mission count, or how the two protagonists are switched between. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Absence of any first-party statement.

As of 21 August 2026 there have been two official trailers, with a third showing scheduled. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .

That second claim is the strongest single fact on the page, because every hour figure in circulation would have to have come from somebody who had played it. Nobody has: there has never been a press preview, a hands-on event or a playable demonstration anywhere. Everything the public has seen is two trailers, a set of official screenshots and a handful of character and location pages.

So the length of this game is genuinely blank rather than merely unreported: nothing reliable exists, and the honest answer is the absence itself rather than a plausible-looking number.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on Thursday, 19 November 2026. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .

The first honest figures will come from players and reviewers after that date, and they will be measurements of individual playthroughs rather than a specification — which is why they will disagree with each other and all be correct.

Where the circulating figures come from

Numbers are produced in three ways, and all three yield something that looks authoritative and carries nothing.

How the figure is made What it is actually worth
Extrapolation from an older Rockstar game A completion time from a crowd-sourced tracker plus a margin for ambition. The output is an opinion about an unplayed game, expressed in hours.
Counting something in leaked material Missions, files or map markers in a stolen build converted into a runtime. It counts one internal build at one moment.
Assertion, then repetition A figure stated once, quoted by an aggregator, and the quotation becomes the citation. After three hops it has a footnote and no origin.

The widely repeated figure of "700+ enterable buildings" has no first-party source. Rumoured. Circulated by fan and aggregator sites, .

The third route is easy to watch happening, because it has already happened to a number about the map: that figure is presented as confirmed constantly and has no first-party source at all. Every hour figure attached to the campaign stands in exactly the same place.

Why a leaked mission count would not answer it

On 18 September 2022 a hacker posted about 90 videos of work-in-progress GTA VI footage, roughly 50 minutes of material, to GTAForums. Confirmed. Axios, .

On 18 August 2026 a group calling itself CyberLeek posted material it claimed came from Grand Theft Auto VI, including footage and an image said to be the Leonida map. Rumoured. GameSpot, .

A mission count drawn from either body of material still would not answer this question. It is a count of what existed in one internal build, at one moment — the 2022 material predates both of the game's delays and the years of work either side of them. The reading of the more recent material is on the August 2026 leaks.

And missions are not a unit of time. They vary enormously in length, and the hours a player spends between them — driving, failing, restarting, ignoring the story altogether — are not in the count. A mission list describes a structure, not a duration.

The other figure usually offered in place of an answer is a table of previous Rockstar games and their average completion times. Those come from crowd-sourced completion trackers rather than from anybody who measured a campaign, and a completion time for a game released more than a decade ago, on older hardware, is an analogy for this one rather than a measurement of it. What can honestly be compared between the two games is set out on compared with GTA 5.

The other two questions inside this one

"How long is it" is usually three questions: how long the main story takes, how long it takes to finish everything, and how long people keep playing afterwards. None of the three has an answer yet, and the third is unusual here.

Rockstar's own pre-order materials, the PlayStation Store listing and the PlayStation.Blog post all describe Grand Theft Auto VI as a "single-player experience". Confirmed. PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored), .

No online or multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced. Confirmed. GamesRadar+, .

Take-Two says the existing GTA Online will keep being supported after GTA VI launches. Confirmed. TweakTown (reporting Take-Two earnings remarks), .

No expansions, story DLC, season pass or post-launch content plan has been announced. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Absence of any first-party statement.

For Grand Theft Auto V the third question was answered by GTA Online, which Take-Two says will carry on after this game ships. For Grand Theft Auto VI there is, so far, nothing to answer it with. How firm the single-player wording is, and how firm it is not, is set out on the online mode.

What would put a number on it

"Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premieres on 27 August 2026. Confirmed. Rockstar Games Newswire, .

Take-Two described the Netflix arrangement on its earnings call as "a groundbreaking partnership" for an extended gameplay reveal. Confirmed. Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings call transcript (The Motley Fool), .

The runtime and exact contents of the Extended Look have not been announced. Not known. Open since ; statements to cite: none. Video Games Chronicle.

Two dates matter to this question and only one of them will produce a number. A showing is not a specification: even if the Extended Look is the narrated gameplay presentation the earnings call implied, a runtime for the campaign is not the kind of thing a trailer states, and Rockstar has not said what is in this one or how long it runs. What has been announced about it is on the Netflix Extended Look.

No hour figure has a source, which is why none of them is graded above rumoured. The first attributable number will come from Rockstar or from the first measured playthroughs after 19 November 2026, and until one of those happens the answer is that nobody knows — what the story itself is said to be is on the story page, with the rest of the record on the gameplay hub.
